A wierd mix of comedy and horror were mashed together into the genious ‘Dead Set’ thriller by Charlie Brooker. Shown on E4 every night from 27th-31st October at 10pm.
Its essentially about a world in which zombies live, killing living people and turning them into living dead white eyed zombies. The killing frenzy spreads and the only people unaware are the contestants of Big Brother ’safe’ inside the house. Until one eviciton night when a zombie breaks through the fire exit. They are the ones fighting to survive (literally).
Who lives? The zombies decide.

Take a look at the website (beware of bloody scenes).
The series will also become available on DVD, 4od and watch online
(uk only).

Just thought i’d share with you a programme I watched recently. Its about the Hughes family, being recorded 24/7 for 100 days/nights and then shown in hour long episodes on wednesdays at 9pm on Channel 4. Sounds boring, but it was strangly addictive.

Twenty-one small, remotely operated cameras were installed throughout the house. There were certain times that the family could have the cameras off in their bedrooms and there were no cameras or microphones in the bathrooms. The director Jonathan Smith wanted to try and stay clear of the whole being watched idea of Big Brother.
“Our aim was to assemble and present true stories that came out of our observations of this family’s life, not to provide Big Brother style hour-by-hour accounts of what happened while we watched them. This involved painstaking effort, carefully compressing timelines, intercutting and interweaving narratives and endlessly debating the most telling shots to use.”

Listen to this interview with members of the family from BBC Radio 1 on the 29th oct 08.
